Presented by:  Alet Davy and Corrianne van Velze.

Date: 17 September 2022.

Venue: NG Kerk Groenkloof

Stained glass using the stitch and flip method

This workshop was presented in two parts. Each participant will learned both methods and made two projects.

When using the stitch and flip method (Method 1), the project is quilted as you go along. This is suitable for a cushion, wall hanging, placemat or tablecloth.

Using the cut-away method, the leading fabric is cut away and fused to the foundation fabric. Thereafter, the leading is machine stitched to the foundation fabric. This is suitable for a wall hanging, cushion or a ‘stained glass window”, which can be hung in a window to let the light through.

Both projects are easy to make and very versatile.

In addition, Alet and Corrianne showed and shared other stained-glass projects and briefly described how each one was made, so that the participants may be inspired with lots of fresh ideas!
