A FEW WORDS

About Us

In the late 1990’s quilters from the Pretoria area determined that while there was a guild in Johannesburg, many quilters were finding it too far and too inconvenient to travel to the meetings. Discussions were held at a number of informal meetings that soon became public. These small meetings culminated in a meeting held at the St Plus X Church Hall in Waterkloof on 7 November 1998 where the new guild became a reality. There were 55 prospective members present and after approving the proposed constitution, the first committee was elected.

Over the years, the guild has continued to grow. We have promoted quilting throughout our region from the south of Pretoria and Centurion to far north Polokwane and Bela-Bela. We have worked with museums, the Botanical Gardens, shopping centers, and many more people to show them what quilting is about, and have made friends everywhere.

Community projects

The guild works actively in the community to provide a service to people in need, and to grow the skills of our future quilters.

Home Groups

The home groups fulfil a very important social function among quilters in the Jacaranda Quilters Guild. Groups meet on a regular shedule and projects can include challenges amongst each other,  making a charity quilt or reaching out in one way or another.
